Origin

The word Rudraksha in Sanskrit means "Shiva's ecstatic tear".

Eleocarpus is a Greek word formed by the combination of Elaei and Carpus, in Greek Elaei means wild olive and Carpus means fruit coming from wild olive trees.

During the flowering period, which takes place between May June and July, the Rudraksha tree fills with white flowers, then turns into an olive-colored fruit and matures to take a blue color similar to that of blueberries.

The most valuable Rudraksha quality is that coming from the north-eastern area of the Himalayas in Nepal, which is harvested from the end of September to mid-December.

The seed of Rudraksha is covered by a husk, which in the harvesting period is left to macerate in water for a certain number of days. Removed the husk inside we find the seed of Rudraksha whose shape is normally round.

The seed

The Rudraksha has a natural hole in the center from which the seed is nourished in the growing period, in the external part there are lines that are called mukhi, based on the number of faces the seed has different benefits and therefore properties.

In ancient sacred texts the seeds of Rudraksha are mentioned for their extraordinary beneficial qualities, for over 5000 years Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist and not only sacred texts ... they treat the many benefits.
